FIDE has published the Elo rankings for February 2024. Let’s take a look at the changes concerning the World Top and the CapaKaspa offline zone rankings.

FIDE Elo Ranking Mixed Classic February 2024
The Mixed World Top was shaken up a little this month by the results of the Tata Steel Masters 2024 at Wijk Aan Zee in the Netherlands. Reigning World Champion Ding Liren made his return to competition at this tournament. He put in a very average performance, losing 18 Elo points. He remains in 4th place behind the leading trio who did not take part in this event. The top 4 ex-aequo players in the tournament make up the best deal in the rankings. The winner after tie-break, the Chinese Wei Yijoins the Top 10 in 9th place. Anish Giri moves up from 10th to 5th. Nodirbek Abdusattorov is 15th and India’s Gukesh moves up from 22nd to 16th.
For the French playersAlireza Firoujza, who alternated between hot and cold at Wijk Aan Zee, remains 6th with a gain of 1 Elo point. Maxime Vachier-Lagrave lost 2 Elo points and a place in the ranking by playing in the Bundesliga. He is now 19th in the world. Behind the top 2 French players, Etienne Bacrot moved up 2 places without playing, to 49th. Behind the French Top 3, there are no other French players in the world Top 100.

Women’s Classic FIDE Elo Ranking February 2024
In the women’s rankingHou Yifan retains 1st place. Behind her, her compatriot and reigning World Champion, Ju Wenjungains 10 points and takes 2nd place thanks to his participation in the mixed Tata Steel Chess Masters 2024.
6 french players are in the world Top 100 this month, in order: Marie Sebag (33rd), Sophie Milliet (58th), Almira Skripchenko (62nd), Pauline Guichard (64th), Deimante Daulyte-Cornette (77th) and Mitra Hejazipour (93rd). Only Sophie Milliet recorded results this month, playing in the Bundesliga and Belgian Interclubs. She gained 8 Elo points and became the 2nd-ranked French player.

Elo CapaKaspa ranking February 2024
Every month, new CapaKaspa rankings are calculated for both classic and Chess960 games. This month, no fewer than 2779 players are ranked on the offline zone.
After being knocked out of 1st place to start 2024, zalex has set the record straight manucox in the lead. It broke the 2,600-point barrier again, gaining 75 points. cvanquick is still on the podium without playing. The leading trio are still well above the 2,500 Elo point mark. Just behind this trio, SergeYori loses one place to daniel62. The gap to 3rd place is still wide. Finally, the +2000 group gains one unit, and is now made up of 20 players.
