17/11/2024 – Like a metronome over the two days of blitz, with 2*6½ (+5=3-1;+4=5-0), Magnus Carlsen crushed the competition, even if at one point he had to contend with Arjun Erigaisi’s comeback, before the latter collapsed (0/3 in the last three rounds after a hot start on the last day with 5/6), notably with a loss to the world n°1 in the penultimate round. Wesley So, not so renowned for his pace (as confirmed by his score after the first round: 3½/9), produced a formidable 8/9 in the second round to climb to second place, 1½ behind the final winner.
