CM R11: Ding fails! | ChessBase

08/12/2024 – While taking advantage of Gukesh’s dubious management of his time once again, Ding Liren suddenly felt he had wings and regained his early championship ambitions, as evidenced by the 2nd move played by the defending champion in this game, to seek as much as possible with Black. Unfortunately for him, this put the Indian back on track, and the Chinese player collapsed with a single blow. He now has three rounds left to try and equalize. In the last title match, against Nepomniachtchi, Ding Liren showed unsuspected resources – so the match may not be over, especially as Gukesh has often shown excessive optimism in Singapore.
