Until now, the French women’s team’s best result in this competition, which is held every two years, was a fifth-place finish, achieved twice, in 2011 and 2015.
Over the course of the competition, which took place from November 10 to 21 in the town of Budva, Sophie Milliet, Pauline Guichard, Anastasia Savina, Deimante Daulyte-Cornette and Mitra Hejazipour beat Estonia, England, Spain, Armenia and the Georgian world champions. They also drew with Azerbaijan and Germany, but lost to Bulgaria and Ukraine.
